Craig Smith is the president of Big Bear Cycling Association and he expects a sellout. Smith wants all the cyclists to register their name before the deadline. “According to our selection for the mountaintop finish of the Amgen Tours of California in 2010, Big Bear Lake is the fast international cyclist’s heaven with our high-altitude training, stunning scenery and clear, cool mountain air.” The Big Bear Cycling Association partners with Open Air Big Bear and Big Bear Vacations to offer riders a chance to win free lodging during the weekend of the tour. Participants pre-registered for any of the stage tours by Friday, July 29, are entered in the drawing for a chance at winning a two-night stay in a Big Bear Lake cabin for up to four people courtesy of Big Bear Vacations. The 2011 Tour de Big Bear is a high distance road bicycle ride with 25-, 50- or 70-mile stages on Aug. 6. All participants individually receives a technical T-shirt, finishers medal, addition in the Gold sprint competition, opportunity drawings and cycling expo with free bike valet on Saturday. All three rides will start up and finish it in the Village area of Big Bear Lake.
